It comes to most of us every year, Fall and Winter. There is no escaping it. Especially if you live up north, you may find yourself inside the home for several months at a time, rarely wanting to go into town or much less outdoors because of the weather. So what do you do to stay healthy and fit during these times inside? One, realize that this happens yearly. If you have a warm area to have some workout equipment, then that may be a good start to have a set aside place for you to workout while the cold season is upon us. You can also eat healthier. Many times when we end up huddled under blankets in our home, we tend to watch TV and eat more than usual. Activity can help keep some people from eating so much, and the wrong things. It is not necessarily only the quantity of food that can hurt, but the wrong types of food. Limiting less healthy foods may be the key here, so be careful not to buy too many. The decision to stay healthy through the cold months can be a good one, how you decide to handle it and what you will do is really up to you!
As more and more recalls on food happen, people are taking a much more serious look into the foods that they and their families consume. Many food companies do not even have to list some ingredients according to the FDA. A lot of this information has now come to the forefront in many households. What is important to some though may not be as important to others. Some people care mainly about price rather than quality. Some care more to shop organically while others do not. It can be wise to educate yourself on what is in the food you eat. For example, you may think that when you buy a chicken nugget style product that there are just a couple of ingredients. You may find out there are tons more. There is a whole other world out there when it comes to food. It can be as easy to find that world by looking at ingredient lists on the backs of packages to see what is included in what you are eating. You may find that things are not as you thought them to be. So keep on your toes when it comes to how and what you eat. It may really help your decision making process when you make your next store trip.
So what happened to that New Years Resolution for getting healthy and losing weight in 2010? Now that it is near 35 days long into the New Year, have you started your resolution to be much healthier? Many people drag their feet for various reasons. Some people have birthdays this month, others may have late New Year’s parties to attend, and others may simply be waiting for Valentines Day to role around. The problem usually is that there will normally always be some sort of day around the corner that makes it seem like there is no point in starting until it passes. Usually once the holidays have passed, there is a good opportunity to get rolling immediately before Valentines Day and so on though. Imagine if you would have started on January 2nd and not have had a treat until Valentines. Wow, all of that time to get a huge start before maybe you get a treat day. So it may be time to enjoy one last day of fun and food, and then truly be ready to start the following day. Do not let another 45 days go on without even planning a good time to start. Usually people tend to plan a start on the next grocery trip. So hang in there, it is never too late to begin.
For so many years, health care coverage has been at the forefront of the news. Even more so of late with the possibility of a government run system. The government wants to provide health care to those that do not have it. Sounds simple and easy but there are tons of underlying issues associated with such a system. Even people with no health care and that have health concerns do not wish for the system, and then there are some that do.
Many of us are just used to having basic health care coverage. We do not know what it is like to not have it. Then there are those of us who certainly know what it is like to not have it. More and more companies are either raising the cost of coverage or canceling their group policies all together. Prescription drug costs are going through the roof, yet people are struggling more financially than they ever have.
So where do you sit when it comes to health care? Are you covered or not? It seems no matter what, this country is going through a major shift and change in how it operates. Imagine what things were like were 10 years ago, now imagine what things will be like in 10 more.
So many times when we think of health and wellness we tend to think of our bodies. Certainly it seems important to maintain a healthy body. Eating well and exercising some can help with this for sure. But what about our minds per say.
Many of us have heard that stress, for example, can be a tough thing on the body. It can be damaging in so many ways it appears. So when all of your focus is only on your outward body then you may need to find some balance for your inner health. This can be done in a number of ways. Certainly if you are having some mental health concerns or you’re over stressed you may want to consult someone for help. It can also be a good idea for some to share this with the people closest to them. Maybe a spouse or some family members would be a place to start. They may be able to help you alleviate some of your issues right off. People have found that just by talking about their problems they end up becoming more relaxed with that one simple thing. Surely everyone is different; the point to this post was really to say that we have more than one area that may need some focus when it comes to health and wellness.
It is pretty obvious that not everyone has the same talents as the other. Some people may not be that great at sports and may just be totally uncoordinated. Others may end up playing professional sports, not having to work too hard at it thanks to them being born with great agility or speed.
Just because you may not have been born with a talent in one area does not meant hat you cannot become good or even great at it though. Sure, no matter how many times you practice or try you may never end up that skilled. But it does take tons of trial and practice to reach that conclusion for some. The key may be to not give up right away. Take music for example, some popular artists have had to have tons of lessons to make it where they are currently at. They did not give up and kept on developing more talent overtime. They key here can also be time. You should rarely expect overnight results; good results can take a good amount of time. So what do you want to achieve? Do you want to strive for something but think you can’t? Maybe it is time to rethink it.
For some people, being healthy just does not come easily. For one it can be really difficult sticking to a new eating plan or a diet. There are tons of temptations everywhere you turn. Maybe you’re at home trying to relax and you just had your healthy dinner when all of a sudden a pizza commercial pops up on TV. The thoughts of junk food now pop into your head and get you salivating for something that you may not need to be eating.
Also, sometimes people have health issues that they have had for very long periods of time. These health issues can really cause you to end up with other health issues. It is like a domino effect. Once one thing struggles, other things could follow in its path. For example weak kidneys could result in frequent bladder issues.
So what can you do? Well, do the best you can to make sure you do everything that is humanly possible to heal your issues. Maybe a health expert or your doctor could help.
Just try not to give up and keep on looking ahead to healthier days. Ask for family and friends to help you do better, they may end up being a great motivational tool.
