Energy Drinks: Beam Me Up Scotty!

It started with one or two energy drinks; I think Red Bull was one of the first. But we older folk remember there was one ahead of their time and before all the rest. Jolt Cola baby! That’s right, a cola drink way head of its time. What made it special, it had twice the caffeine. But wait, I thought we were talking about energy drinks? Well, we are.

Have you ever read the ingredient labels on those energy drinks? Most of them contain tons of caffeine and lots of sugar. First of all your mind will think it is getting this boost of energy. It’s not real energy though; it is basically a blend of a lot of caffeine and sugar. It’s really a temporary sugar rush and then a huge let down after.

If you want real energy, consider eating real foods, or for example drink real herbal organic teas. Your doctor may recommend for you to stay far away from refined foods and sugars.

Don’t believe me, read a label for yourself and decide. It says it all on the back of the can. Your doctor or health care physician should be able to better help you with your choices.
