			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Whether you live in the south or the north, whether your climate is dry or damp, mold can invade your home and cause problems both to the home and your health. Mold can end up in your home in a variety of ways. Many times people have leaky roofs or pipes. Once the leak starts and if is not found quickly, mold can start to form in the walls and attic space. It is important when you end up with a leak to find it quickly if you can and dry that area. Even if you do find a leak quickly, it is just as important to get that area dried and fast. Dampness trapped in the walls will have trouble drying, especially in cold and\or wet climates.</p>
<p>Do you always need an expert to help with mold remediation? That is something we cannot answer here. Mold is serious and should be taken as such. Throwing some bleach on it will not necessarily fix the issue. Having an expert out to evaluate may be a good idea. They may be able to show you where the problem originated and if you have more than you thought. Also, many times evaluations are free. And simpler mold fixes are not as expensive as you may think.</p>
<p>So if you see mold, act fast, do not hesitate or the issue could get far worse.</p>

But there could be some things that you may be missing in regards to their health. One thing to consider is how much exercise or activity their are getting. Are they watching too much TV or playing to many games? Or is your spouse working too much?</p>
<p>Another item that is usually overlooked is diet. We tend to get in ruts as far as what we eat. But have you really considered what you family is eating? Labels can tell you usually most of what you need to know on foods. Learn how to read food labels to understand what you are really getting in your food. Plus are you shopping the perimeter much where the fresh foods are? Or are you spending more time in the middle aisles with the processed foods.</p>
<p>So maybe it is a time to have a family meeting and go over some possible health concerns. Also think about how you can as a family improve your families over health.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thanksgiving 2011 is almost upon us and now that we are close to it, how is your health? With the holidays coming, if you are already struggling, you may want to get on the ball before it&#8217;s too late. Holidays are usually filled with lots of fatty foods and goodies. Sweets and these intense blasts of bad carbs can really ruin a diet and set you back on your dietary goals. However, it is not too late to do something about it. </p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t mean you have to give up the foods you love. One idea may be to just lower your quantities a bit and stay away from overeating. Eating too much food can really cause you to gain excessive weight. Learn to stop when you’re full and do not eat again until you&#8217;re really hungry.</p>
<p>Next, cut as many sweets as possible. Sure you can have some of your favorites, but try and limit the quantities if you can. All in all just try and be as healthy as possible before the holidays. Then when the holidays get here try not to overdo it. In the end you will be glad you did. </p>

With another winter fast approaching some of us, it is time to now think about how you will protect your indoor and outdoor pets from the cold. For example, if you just moved from a warm climate to a much cooler climate and you have an outside dog, you must realize that your loving pet will not be used to the colder weather. A really harsh winter can really hurt your dog if they are not protected from the elements. </p>
<p>It may be wise to first have an area that is warmer for your pet to sleep. Nights in some northern states can turn bitterly cold, even for animals that are used to it they could struggle. Give your pet time to acclimate to its environment before just tossing it outside to deal with the elements. After some time, your pet, like you, will get much more used to the cooler climate. Also, ask the local vet what tips may be worth knowing. The local vet will have seen it all and have more than likely some great ideas for you to help your family pet survive a tough and cold winter.</p>

If you did well, then the assumption will be that you can carry this new healthy lifestyle all the way through the holidays without completely blowing it.</p>
<p>For those of us that did not do so well, now is the time to do something about it. Around the corner these holidays will be loaded with rich and fattening foods and tons of sweeties with loads of sugar.</p>
<p>Sure, it can be daunting. It has already been tough, but you do not have to totally deprive yourself of enjoying the holidays just to be healthy. Keep in mind that there are tons of foods out there that are good for you to eat. There are even some sweet options to add if you do your research and like to cook.</p>
<p>Advice? Get online. Look on some forums or do some searching for healthy holiday meals and see what comes up. Do it now before it&#8217;s too late.</p>

For kids that play outside quite a bit, parents are usually warned to make sure that they are given fluids every 20 minutes or so to refresh them. The same goes for adults as well. Older folks can have a tough time dealing with the intense heat especially if their AC unit is old or not working.</p>
<p>Any time the heat is intense and your cooling system is not working, you may want to make sure that you get it fixed or have someone that you know let you stay with them until it is.</p>
<p>Anytime you or your kids are outside playing any sort of a sport or activity, be prepared. Make sure that you have a way to cool them off. Keep plenty of cold water or other beverages around just in case as well. Know the warning signs to possible heat related illnesses. It is usually best to play it safe rather than be sorry later.</p>

<p>What about your skin’s health and the heat. The sun’s rays can really do a ton of damage to the skin. Imagine truly what a sunburn really is. If you burn a piece of toast, then what happens to that toast? It becomes burnt and charred. Thankfully our skin can handle heat in excess more than a piece of bread. However, if you’re constantly getting burnt then your skin in the long run can become very damaged. </p>
<p>First off, your skin will peel and even blister if you get a sunburn. Then many people may experience a freckling of the skin in that area. Also the skin can end up becoming very tough and leathery in some areas that end up in the sun a ton.</p>
<p>Make sure that you try and keep yourself covered as much as possible. Know the dangers of being in the sun for too long. Also know what you can do to prevent sun damage to the skin for you and your family. In the end this may help you keep your body looking healthier and younger.</p>

<p>Also sun burns are always a concern during this time. Skin cancer scares have led people to seek protection from the sun and the long term damage it can cause. It can be a good idea to teach your young kids very early on to protect themselves and be aware that too much sun can eventually cause their skin to burn and hurt. </p>
<p>Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water this year. Sodas and other flavored drinks do not necessarily help you stay hydrated, being so full of sugar and other substances. So keep plenty of water around just in case for you and your family.</p>

Seeing all of this fresh food can possibly help to trigger your mind into wanting these things. So a weekly visit may be good therapy. Getting to know your local farmers also can be fun. You may find that they have great tips on preparing what they sell and find out that being healthier may not be that difficult. It may be a good deterrent as well to stay away from the fast food places. So sit down with someone you know or love and try to think of some other activities that can help you to be healthier.</p>

Any time you overeat you cause your body to crave more and more food. You then may see your normal quantity of food rise and rise. This can cause unnecessary weight gain and really raise your monthly food budget. Eating too much fast food can be rough. Fast food is typically not all that healthy. Be sure you limit how much you eat out and try and eat as much home cooked food as possible. </p>
<p>Not eating your veggies can be another no-no. Veggies have tons of vitamins and minerals. They also have lots of beneficial fiber. Never do this alone if possible. Get the whole family involved. You can help each other to stay on track if you are doing this together. Doing this alone can increase your risk of failure 10 fold or more. So make sure you try and keep a solid overall health and wellness program near to your heart at all times. It is easy to stumble and fall, but hard to get back up and on track if you’re not careful.</p>

Chocolates and sweets seem to be the big gift item that just about everyone gives. Can you indulge some and still be healthy? Well, that all depends on your circumstances, but in many cases there are some decent choices that you can make to still be able to enjoy the sweets yet not bust at the seams any more. Consider just one dessert while you’re eating out and split it. Also, get things that are lightly sweetened with more natural things like honey. The biggest thing you can do is to stop and know when to say no!</p>
<p>Stopping the overindulging is probably the biggest thing one can do to work off that winter weight. Some exercise and lighter eating can be a good thing to do as well. So pitch that New Year’s resolution that you didn’t keep and get on the ball. Now is the time and it&#8217;s not too late.</p>

For people that love to run they will show you studies and claim that running can be really good for you. And sure, for some people it may be great. Is running right for everyone though? Not necessarily so. Sometimes people with health issues, people with weak knees for example, and other problems may not be fit enough to run. </p>
<p>For those that love running but cannot due to injury, they will try and seek other alternatives similar to running like doing water therapy. They now have treadmills that can go inside swimming pools. So whether or not you love running, it may be wise for some to check with their doctor or trainer to see what may be recommended for them.</p>

If you want to know how far you have gone, walking at a local track can help, or you can use a pedometer or drive your route to check the total distance.</p>
<p>Some experts say 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day is a good goal. Of course this can vary per person. It can also be good to wear some comfy walking shoes as well. You may need some good padding for the feet if you plan to walk long distances.</p>

You could also workout more in the day time and less at night. You can carry along a cell phone or tiny first aid kit just in case you have an emergency.</p>

If you struggle it can be a relief to see others struggling through their workouts as well. This can help you to see that you are not the only one having a tough time making it through your fitness regimes.</p>
<p>It might also be a huge plus to be with people you know. Having a friend or family member there can really make working out fun. Once again it can be great way to help each other to be accountable to show up and work hard.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many of us have heard the term yo-yo dieting. There are also equally just as many people out there that have experienced this type of dieting before. Whether you go on and off the same diet only to go off of one and to another and so on, your body will be feeling the effects of this lack of commitment. Many diets, if you read the fine print or really understand what the author intended, say that you should get on the diet, stick with it, then get off and eat healthier. Some diets are not meant for you to stay on for too long of a period of time. </p>
<p>What happens is that you go from say 250 and lose down to 220. But you end up jumping off the diet and consuming the wrong foods again. What can tend to happen is that you not only regain those 30 pounds back, but an additional 20 more. Your body then makes its newer set weight 270 or so. Then what happens is that vicious cycle starts all over again. Your body then becomes confused and your metabolism gets out of whack. So be careful when dieting. It is more critical than you realize to actually stick to it.</p>

Whether they are 18 years old or 50 years old, those who do not feel they have health issues may tend to worry very little about what is going on inside of their bodies.</p>
<p>Your joints are a key element in your body&#8217;s overall health makeup. Without healthy joints you could end up in serious pain and could end up not being able to do the things you used to do so freely.</p>

The skin obviously absorbs what comes in contact with it very easily. If this is the case then folks usually run to the store and by non organic conventional style fertilizers to replenish the soil with. Certainly for a time these products may appear to do some good. But make sure you read the labels of these products first. They usually come with a huge warning label on them. They can be dangerous in many ways to people or pets. Maybe next time consider an organic alternative. There is no reason organic methods have to be the alternative, for thousands of years they were the norm. But now it appears good marketing for some companies have led people to believe that their products are the norm. Either way, do some research; you may find some interesting things to read about.</p>

Certainly some of it may have been shipped off, but most of it was bought and sold locally. Families did not have the luxury for centuries of heading to the store to buy whatever it was they wanted. Produce was seasonal, as was the case with most of the items bought. Now local farmers in some areas are trying to once again provide good produce, milk, meat and eggs to their local community. This is really important to those wanting fresh and organic food. Locally buying food also can cut down on trucking pollution by not having food shipped thousands of miles, rather just buy it locally and save on these costs that affect our planet.</p>
<p>So no matter what your reasons are for wanting good and local food, do some research as there may be more local farmers around then you realize. And for those of you that have never tried this, head out to a couple of local farms and see what is happening for yourselves.</p>

They claim you do not need to cook your food. Now they do dehydrate their foods, but other than that they eat everything raw really, and typically they are vegan. But according to many experts some veggies are not meant to be eaten raw. -The same thing with some nuts.</p>
<p>In cases like this it can takes tons of research to come to a conclusion as to what you should do. They key is to be careful and consider both sides to get the full view of what is really going on and who is saying what for what reasons.</p>

Not everyone was meant to be the CEO of a company. One reason college is tough for some to consider is the extremely high cost. The price of a college education has jumped dramatically over the years, especially if you are considering getting your MBA. With the economy in a slump, you may want to really ponder heavily if you want to go or not. This is a tough decision, one that should not be taken lightly. Be careful to also research where you are going to school if you do decide to go. </p>
<p>If you are an adult with a family, spending timing with the family may be much more important that attending school. Also, if you are doing well in a career then just maybe you do not feel it is necessary for you to go. So to make a wise decision, make sure you carefully weigh all of your options. Just because people may push you to go, it does not mean that you were meant to nor do you have to.</p>

This can come from hearing people tell you all too often that you can be a millionaire, or the CEO, or whatever it is they are trying to make a point with. But what would happen if you were just content with the person you are basically. </p>
<p>Certainly working hard is not a bad thing. You never know if you stopped trying to climb the corporate ladder, and work hard that it may just happen naturally. You can always try setting short term and long term goals. These can be a great motivation. </p>
<p>But please remember that there can be nothing wrong with just being in a normal job, earning a normal living and being happy where you are. Look around you, how many people die rich or end up CEO&#8217;s, etc. -not many.</p>

The same can be said with exercising, if you end up going out of the shoot into a program too fast and hard, your body may really hate you for it.</p>
<p>Sometimes baby steps may work better and for others not. Consider the alternatives before you start anything new. In the end this may help some of you to become much more successful at what you attempt to do.</p>

There are also many people that say activity is good for kids, and some that say there can be too much of that depending on what it is they are doing.</p>
<p>The point to this post really is that taking an active part in the health of your child can be important long term. Sometimes we end up in ruts and we tend to stay the course if things are looking good or normal. It does not mean that they are, but to our eyes things seem fine. For example, you may not even notice that your child is gaining too much weight or is not eating enough of the rights foods. Or maybe they don&#8217;t drink enough water. Maybe you should set some guidelines, maybe not, the point is that we sometimes have to work at taking notice at what is going on around us. As someone once said, fish do not talk much about being wet. So have fun, and get involved in your kids lives more if you are already not.</p>

Eating too much meat can cause gout in some people. Most people know that they need some sort of balanced plan to how they eat. They need to eat plenty of fruits and veggies and so on.</p>
<p>There are some groups out there for example that eat 80% or more fruit. Even though fruit can be really good for you, it does usually contain lots of natural occurring sugars. So maybe for some people, eating a meal plan like this can do more bad than good. So be careful to not over do too much of any one food. </p>

With food prices rising all across the board, from conventionally grown to organically, eating most foods just costs money. But what are some of the unseen expenses that can pop up when you choose not to eat healthier. You could end up with higher medical bills from a disease or illnesses caused from poor eating habits. It can actually cost you more money as well as buying new clothes continuously because you lose and gain weight off and on all of the time. Plus, are you really saving money making poorer food choices? You may not be if you are eating out quite a bit and buying costly unhealthy foods. So sit down, look at your finances and eating habits, and weigh the cost for you and your family.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>All of this talk about eating healthy, exercise and vitamins can tend to get overwhelming after awhile. But depending on your circumstances and your preferences they can also be a very good thing. Sometimes it just seems some good old fashioned sunshine and fresh air is something you need as well though. It just feels great, especially after coming out of a very cold and wet winter, to get outside and soak up the sun. The warmth of the sun can feel great on the body. Certainly you do not want to over do it, but getting some sun just feels good.</p>
<p>The fresh air and fragrances of the air from the flowers, budding trees and grass can be great as well. Now if you have allergies, maybe not, but for those of us that do not, the smells of the season can feel quite great. </p>
<p>So you see, sometimes getting outside can bring us some good health. Sure, all of the other things like eating healthy can be great, but it is not hard to enjoy the fresh air and sun, no preparation needed, just head outside and enjoy.</p>

By staying inside for the run, they can avoid the heavy traffic and the potential dangers that may accompany runners. Also when weather conditions are less than favorable, running inside can be great. You are not tied down to a season or a sunny day without rain for your running. Rainy or cold weather can really set you back if you rely on running as a major form of working out. Treadmill quality can be a big thing when you’re looking for one. If you plan on using it a ton, then you may consider getting one with a good warranty and a top quality model as well. </p>
<p>So do some research and really think through things if you are considering your own treadmill. Maybe test some out at the local gym or find one that has a good trial period.</p>

If you like salt, some foods can have a more natural tendency to taste salty. Also many people out there try and eat as natural of a salt as they can. They will buy Himalayan sea salt or regular sea salts. Either way, doing some research may help to give you some good insight into what most people use several times day, that is regular table salt. It can be a good rule of thumb some say to not overdo anything. In the case of salt that may be a really good idea. </p>

So you are headed out to eat with some friends and think you need to be careful to not eat too much sugar while you are out. You start off well by beginning with some water to drink. Sodas and tea can contain tons of sugar. If you are not into the fake sweeteners, then water may be a great choice. Then you think you will order a nice Asian chicken salad with a Teriyaki dressing to show you are really trying to do what is right by your health. Before ordering it though, it might have been wise to have asked about the sugar content of your meal. Sure, it seems healthy eating a salad, and maybe overall it is not bad. But some salads can contain tons of sugar. The sweet type dressing will more than likely have lots of sugar. Then there might be sugar hidden inside the chicken, the breading, or other things that are in the salad. Before you know it you may end up with more sugar in your meal than you realize and feel you should eat. There can actually be enough sugar that you could have had a few desserts, equaling the sugar in your salad. So when you eat out, if you need to, ask questions about what is in your food.</p>

Let&#8217;s say you think you make a good choice at both by ordering a chicken salad. They would seem to be low in the foods you can&#8217;t have. Problem is that usually that the chicken and dressings are loaded with sugar and salt. BLAH! So be careful, and be informed as to what you are eating.</p>

Sure something make look healthier on a menu, say for example a chicken salad of some sort, but what may be hidden inside the salad may not end up being all that healthy for you. For example sometimes chickens can be loaded with sugar and salt, during the seasoning process to make it taste a certain way. The dressing also may contain lots of oils and sugars as well.</p>
<p>Then there can be the issue of just wanting to choose a healthy meal when there seem to be so many selections of things that are not was healthy. It seems that all you can do sometimes if just try and make the healthiest decision possible.</p>
<p>So try if you can to scout out the healthiest places to eat possible nearest to where you are. If you do then need to eat out then be prepared to visit a place such as these. In the end try your best and make adjustments along the way if you feel you need to.</p>
